Raymond vs Raymond: What the Verdict Really Means

By Tastemaker — August 25, 2012

Having to live out your personal life in front of the entire world is a hard pill to swallow, especially when no one really knows all the facts and fingers are being pointed in every direction, and depending on who you take a liking to, you can paint the picture that the other party is the evil villain in the situation.

The custody case between Usher and Tameka Raymond has been playing out in Atlanta’s Fulton County Superior Courtroom for over a year-and-a-half and has finally come to a close on Friday August 24, 2012.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge, Bensonetta Tipton Lane, ruled that Usher, 33, will have primary custody of 4-year 0ld Usher Raymond V and 3-year-old Naviyd Ely Raymond starting September 1, 2012. Usher and Tameka will have joint legal custody and the type of visitation hasn’t been determined yet for Tameka; which could be a battle in itself.

Usher having primary custody of their two children means he will be their primary caregiver. His home will be the children’s primary residence, due to considerations of school, daycare and other activities in Usher and Naviyd’s life. The two having joint legal custody means that Usher and Tameka will share the right and responsibility to make the decisions related to health, education and the welfare of the children.

Based on the grueling details of how this case even came to fruition and the evidence that was brought forth during this custody hearing, it’s clear that there are two children that need their parents to be on the same playing field and have their best interest at heart but because of so much pain that is going on in both Usher and Tameka’s life, that element is indeed missing.

From someone who has gone through what the two of them have just dealt with  (Like Tameka and Usher, Daniel Bloom was even my mediator), I can say, from experience, until they get to the point where they can co-parent without the intervention of the courts, the situation will be remain emotionally draining and extremely difficult.

Be sure to read all the facts involving this case here. Tameka states this is the most accurate truth from the media. After reading lets discuss intelligently about your thoughts surrounding the recent verdict in this case.

She claims his lifestyle and schedule as an entertainer is

In my opinion, the court system may have failed these children. I read
the recommendation of the court appointed advocate and I was amazed at the
advocates conclusions. When a marriage fails
and there are children involved, parents should maintain integrity and do what’s
best for the children… Just sad.
