Gelish Soak-Off Gel Polish Review

By Monica Thorpe — December 05, 2011

I usually don’t get my nails done especially since they usually chip days later. But once I found out about gelish polish by Harmony, I decided to try it. Once a month my best friend and I have a spa day and it was my first time going to the nail shop she visits. As we went in, I became more excited because this would be the first time where I would have nail polish that would last an entire two weeks! So, how does gelish polish work you ask? Just like in a regular manicure, the cuticles are pushed back and your nails are then filed. The nails are also buffed, so the gel adheres more strongly. Next, a coat of gel polish is applied to each nail and then dried for 30 seconds under a UV Light. A second coat is then applied and allowed to dry again for another 30 seconds.  At the end of the manicure, I was amazed that my nails were dry. I was so excited that I just started touching random things to make sure. The color I chose was called bronze  and then I added sparkles on top to make my finger “bling” was BEAUTIFUL!!! I’ve tried gelish polish twice and I have yet to change the color. If you’re not a brown fan like I am, they do have other colors.  Other colors include Go Girl(Pink), Twinkle(Sparkling Gold), and It’s A Lily(Purple). Two weeks later and my nails still looked decent. Yet, there is a downside to getting the gelish nail manicure. The removal of the polish is a tedious process. It may take up to 20-25 minutes to remove the polish along with a little filing as well. I definitely would recommend the nail polish for someone who loves getting his or her natural nails done, it is affordable (I spent $25) and I only recommend that a professional does it.
